Free bus journeys starting in West Berkshire this Saturday (December 18) are expected to repeat the success of last Saturday. More than 1,500 people got their trips on Newbury Buses and Reading Buses for free during last Saturday’s promotion, which was run in partnership with West Berkshire Council.
“Last Saturday was a massive success with lots of customers taking advantage of the free offer across West Berkshire,” said Reading Buses Chief Executive Officer, Robert Williams. “And the good news is they can do the same again this Saturday.”
The festive offer is in support of local retailers and to minimise traffic congestion by encouraging more people to use the bus.
The initiative is funded by West Berkshire Council, who have worked with Reading Buses and other operators in the area, to provide free travel for Christmas shopping and activities.
Journeys are free as long as they start within the West Berkshire boundary – for example a return trip from Thatcham to Newbury would be absolutely free.
